Greater London International Airport Authority announces 2021 retirement of President and CEO Michael Seabrook

LONDON, ONTARIO CANADA – The Board of Directors of the Greater London International Airport Authority (GLIAA) today announced that GLIAA President and CEO Michael Seabrook has announced his intention to retire at the end of 2021 after more than 30 successful years as an airport executive, culminating with 9 outstanding years at the helm of Southwestern Ontario’s largest regional airport.

Michelle Faysal, Chair of the Board of Directors stated that “Under Mike’s leadership, GLIAA has experienced significant levels of growth, both in the airside and non-airside aspect of the business, improved passenger experience, and financial sustainability. On behalf of the Board, the employees and our air partners and tenants, along with all of the passengers that we connect to the world, I would like to thank Mike for his contributions, vision and leadership”.

Since assuming the role of President and CEO in 2012, Mike has grown the airport services, facilities, airline partners and the number of passengers utilizing the Airport. GLIAA’s motto “Start Here, Go Anywhere” is one that Mike lives and actively promotes in our community. He and his team of dedicated staff have built a welcoming atmosphere that meets the goal of easy, comfortable and efficient customer experience. His integrity and steady hand throughout the past year of pandemic restrictions has kept the staff encouraged and busy during this difficult time, ensuring London Airport has the ability to return safely to normalized operations as soon as health restrictions permit.

Mike’s leadership style is what landed him the top spot at GLIAA in 2012. His competence, friendly demeanor and ability to relate to staff and partners alike, has earned him the respect of everyone in the airport and airline industry as well as people in the local community and region. His positive attitude and quick smile for everyone will be missed.

The GLIAA Board has initiated a recruitment process to replace Mr. Seabrook and plans to conduct an international search, considering both internal and external candidates for the role.

“Consistent with the commitment that Mike has shown to the GLIAA throughout his tenure here, he has agreed to stay on to ensure a smooth and orderly transition to his successor,” Michelle continued. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to again thank Mike for his service and commitment. He has established a strong foundation of growth and self-sufficiency for our Airport that will be built upon in the years to come. We wish Mike and his wife, Marian, many happy years together in retirement”.
