Receipt of the certificate marks another milestone on the Airport's path to environmental sustainability.

LONDON, ON - London International Airport is pleased to announce they have received Level 1 certification through the International Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program. The program is a global carbon management program for airports that independently assesses and recognizes airports' efforts to manage and reduce their CO2 emissions. There are currently 47 airports in North America that are enrolled in the program.

Level 1 certification is the first step in the four levels of the program and requires a carbon footprint measurement of the airport. The next step for London is Level 2 that involves carbon management and progress towards a reduced carbon footprint. London International Airport obtained Level 1 certification by preparing a thorough summary of emissions, allowing the Airport to establish an understanding of the sources contributing to our carbon footprint.

"We are proud to have achieved ACA Level 1 certification, marking a milestone in becoming a greener airport" says Michael Seabrook, President and CEO of London International. "We have already started the process of implementing carbon reduction measures as we work towards our Level 2 designation".

Pursuing all levels of accreditation will include working towards multiple goals, including implementing best practices in carbon management and reducing carbon dioxide emissions as a result.
